The Camqueen of the Year Crowned

Advertorial

Don't know if you guys saw this advert I did for the CamQueen of the Year contest?

Now the contest is finally over and can I say WOW???????

It was definitely a smash hit among Singaporean youth!! The contest generated 4.5 MILLION page views and 400,000 votes cast via facebook!!

Of course, it was a very interesting contest where contestants were urged to send in a photo of themselves before and after a makeover, so everyone was trying to prove that they can doll themselves up the best. And I must say among the contestants were many brave souls who put up their photos at... erm, well not their best. All for the prize of $5,000!

After a super fierce competition, the final winner was crowned *drumroll*:

And she is Tammy Tay!!

In case you are wondering why there's only one photo and the "after" is mysteriously replaced by bottles of Vitamin Orange/Lemon, it is not coz after her makeover Tammy looks like that. It's coz it's a...

TWIST!!!

Surprise! The contest was not judged by how drastically different your makeover made you look, but by your "before" photo. Yes, proving people can look beautiful even in their bare skin.

Like me with no makeup muahaha OK lah fine I did use some photoshopping.

Of course, health is the foundation of all beauty, and you can't be beautiful without being healthy!

Which is why Tammy was chosen, coz her glow and bright eyes say good health :)

Yes I love my make up and all my fake things ie false eyelashes and implants etc, but I also believe that having great skin (and teeth and hair actually) is the most basic rule to looking beautiful.

If you want glowy bright skin - Vitamin C is super vital.

Which can be sought from You c1000 vitamin C drinks!

The powerful little bottles contain a whooping 1000mg of vitamin C each, which your body desperately needs to produce collagen, fight signs of aging, stronger bones and teeth etc. Hiyah the health benefits of Vitamin C is super a lot lah can't be bothered to list them all out. It's awesome that's all!

The worst thing is our body does not retain or produce Vitamin C, which means you need to ingest appropriate amounts of it everyday!

And the easiest (and yummiest) way to to drink loads of You c1000. :D

When I was sick recently I drank like seriously 7 bottles in a day. Helped me recover fast! It's your best friend when you are beginning to fall sick I tell you.

Remember to get your Vitamin C for today!

Wow I'm addicted to the game on the website -_- ... Oh and also, You c1000 will be launching a new APPLE flavour soon!!

I'm excited to try!

13 years and counting - my favourite foundation

Advertorial

I feel slightly emo about today's advertorial. It's because I've used this product since I was 13, when I first started putting on make up. When I was poor and pimply. I looked high and low for a foundation that provided enough coverage for my zits, lasted long, and didn't harm my skin - and found ZA.

And now I'm 26. Over a decade I've tried so many other foundations, and ZA's two way cake is STILL my favourite!!! I'm not lying ok I've mentioned this in many blog entries.

Almost every photo of me you see on this blog has ZA powder on my face!

Even just smelling the foundation gives me a sense of confidence coz I associate it with being pretty!!

So needless to say I love my ZA foundation (I remember the spokesperson then was Karen Mok) and now they love me back and I'm writing an advert for them!!! *sheds an emo tear.

Thanks ZA for covering all my flaws for 13 years :)

Why I love my ZA foundation:

1) The colour is lovely. I hate how some foundations (especially liquid ones it seems) make you look grey or yellow instead of well... dewy and radiant. ZA's foundation comes in 8 perfect shades to suit most Asian skintones - the most number of shades in the mass market! I'm a 23 when I'm tan and when it fades I'm a 22!

2) The damn powder is crazy long-lasting!! I've swam in it before (!!), clubbed and stayed overnight outside and it's still there.

3) It doesn't oxidise and turn some nasty darker colour.

4) It's cheap and affordable!!!

5) Doesn't harm my skin.

6) Contains SPF 20 - sounds like no big deal but once I went swimming (yes with foundation) and my whole body was sunburnt badly except for my face -_-

7) Has 3 magical beneficial ingredients - 1) Hyaluronic Acid to moisturize skin, 2) Poreless powder to even skin out instantly and to conceal pores and imperfections for a flawless finish and 3) Luminous powder... It's like little disco balls that give your skin a natural glow from all angles!

These are all the limited edition ZA foundation cases I've had over the years :)

And I'm not the only one loving my ZA foundation!!

It is the no. 1 selling foundation for 12 years in Watsons (means I'm one of the first to discover it coz I used it since 13 years ago muahaha)

Cleo Beauty Hall of Fame for Compact Foundation with the Finest Finish

Cozycot Holy Grail 2008

Her World Reader's Choice Awards 2000/2001

Cleo Crush Awards - Best Compact for the budget conscious 2003

1 foundation sold EVERY THREE MINUTES!!

Every year, ZA launches a Limited Edition Case that comes with 2 refill packs for a super cheap price - and this is this year's:

Say hello to the Stardust Wonderland Limited Edition Collections 2010!

Pretty and sparkly!

The pink one is called Pink-in-Flight and the silver one is called Silver Mist!

Which one do you prefer?? I'm definitely going for the pink!

For those of you who don't know, the reason why 2-way foundation is named as such is because it can be used in 2 ways - wet or dry.

For better coverage, use a wet sponge to apply. If you want just a light finish or to blot oily areas, use a dry sponge!

To achieve a long-lasting and even finish, apply like this:

Check that you didn't miss any spots!! :D

Anyway you may be wondering why I'm wearing such a furry contraption (It's a PONCHO from minimaos woohoo) - it's because Winter is approaching and I am trying to be fashionably seasonal ok!!

And also I got ZA's new Glitter Eye Colors in 5 new shades!

Left to right: 02 Mirror Ball, 03 Star Glow, 04 Peach Fizz, 05 Soda Pop and 01 Urban Night

AND THEY ARE TOTALLY WINTRY AND FESTIVE!!

I'm LOVING the colors!!!!

Highlight - Mirror Ball
Eyeshadow - Peach Fizz
Inner corners of eyes - Star Glow
Lower eyelids - Soda Pop

I love the pastel colours, especially soda pop! Super suitable for Christmas :D

Here's another look created with the glitter eye colors and ZA two-way foundation:

This look is more autumny!!

Highlighter - Mirror Ball
Eyeshadow (winged out and applied thickly) - Urban Night
Inner eye corners - Star Glow
Lower eyelids (smudged) - Urban Night

And some drawn on lower lashes with an eyeliner:

Super easy to achieve for a sultry first date. :D

Glitter eye colors are going for $11.90 each. It also moisturizes the eyelids with moistening powder and makes your eyes glitter from all angles with Pearly Powder.

Inspired to try ZA yet?

As I mentioned, the yearly limited edition collections are always sibeh wu hua (worth the buy) coz they are damn afforable!!

And this year's cases are so pretty PLUS it comes with a cute little pouch!!

The collection only cost $33.50 for 1 case (Pink-in-flight or Silver Mist), 2 refill packs (can last damn long) and the satin wristlet. The usual price is $60.

Our promotional packsets are available too!

Set C / D: Purchase pink or silver case + 2 refills + True White skincare sample kit + true white essence 5g + True White Day Protector 1.2g

Set E / F: Purchase pink or silver case + 2 refills + Future Defense Trial kit

Set G / H: Purchase pink or silver case + 2 refills + Concealer Perfection (full sized) + Pore smoother sample

Must quickly go buy while stocks last... Very fast run out of colours one I swear. If they ran out of your shade you'd hop on the spot and be damned pissed. At least, that's what happens to me!! But I don't have to worry coz I got a lot of refill packs coz ZA people remembered my shade I love them MUAHAHAHA.

Magic sheets

Advertorial

I love make up but I don't think anyone really likes the feeling of make up on their skin.

Especially after a really long day, especially after clubbing or parties, you just want to rush home and have your face clean again without all that gunk clogging your pores!!

And when you have thick make up on like me (and if you are OLD like me), it's especially important to remove all the make up because leaving make up on overnight ages your skin like crazy!

I normally put on falsies so for me, the hardest part of make up removal is removing the falsies gently. I used to just tug them out but that's like stretching the sensitive skin around your eyes to the max.

Lazy?

Pulling out falsies is advisable... If you wanna age 10x faster than your peers.

Correct method is to ease them out slowly and gently with makeup remover.

So not only is it important for make up remover to be strong, it also has to be CONVENIENT!!

To be really honest I used to just use a facial scrub coz once I get home I wanna freaking sleep...

Too tired to remove make up?
Happens to all of us

So I just use a scrub in the shower while I'm showering and be done with it! Obviously you can't use the soapy scrub around your eyes so my eyes would still be like smudgey brown until the next day. HAHA I'm so gross!

For those of you who are the amazing combination of lazy and vain, I'm gonna introduce to you an awesome product!!

Biore Cleansing Oil Cotton Sheets!!

I'm sure everyone has heard of Biore. I've used Biore's facial wash since I was 14 till today!! But I betcha didn't know that Biore is the No. 1 makeup remover brand in Japan!

And among the selection of makeup removers that Biore sells, my favourite are the sheets!!

I HATE having to pour makeup remover onto cotton pads to wet the pads then wipe my makeup off. It's so troublesome and those cotton pads are so small, then must use a few of them. And the cotton pads often leave little bits of fluff on my face. DO NOT LIKE!! Especially when the fluff gets into my mouth!

But Biore's cotton sheets come already infused with cleansing oil so you can cheat a step!!

So very easy. :)

It comes in a pretty pink plastic box that you can keep in your bathroom. And the box is airtight so the sheets inside won't dry up!! Once you are finished with the 48 sheets, you can just buy the refill pack (middle in pic above) and place it in your box!

See super convenient!!

(Hahaha actually it looks a bit like a toilet bowl from top view! :x)

Here comes my favourite bit about the Cotton Sheets - they come in BABY SIZE!!!

Ok it's actually a travel pack but I like to call it "Baby" Cotton Sheets. Coz it's so cute and small it fits in your palm!

It's AWESOME to have in your luggage for travelling, or in your bag for when you wanna hit the gym and want to remove the make up, or just to put in the car! Then you don't even need to be home to completely remove your make up :D

Now for the most amazing part of the sheets...

THEY ARE ULTRA MOIST!!

By moist I mean:

All from ONE sheet. Note amount of cleansing oil on the paper!!

And even though there is so much cleansing oil, it's surprisingly not oily on the skin at all. :)

(And yes my nails are hideous)

It is so powerful, even the most stubborn makeup can be gently and effectively removed!

Now to put Biore Cleansing Oil Cotton Sheets to the TEST!

Remember to first put the Cotton Sheet on your eyes for 5-6 seconds because you begin wiping.

Tadah! This is after just putting the sheet on my eyes with no wiping done.

And the sheet used for half my face! Makeup transferred from face to sheet :p

And using only one side of one sheet - half my face's make up removed!!

It felt so clean and yet it wasn't drying at all, or greasy/sticky!! LOVE IT.

I was really quite surprised that the sheets removed BOTH my fake eyelash and double eyelid sticker!! Because the sheets are so wet, I barely had to repeatedly wipe the same area to completely get makeup off. No more tugging!

I just hate having leftover eyelash glue being stuck on my eyelids and are always IMPOSSIBLE to remove. The sheets got rid of that too!! WOAH!

It is also enriched with a moisturising agent so my skin felt soft and smooth after usage - and best of all, not tight! Alcohol-free too so it's ideal for all skin types.

Awesome. :D

AND AFFORDABLE TOO!!

Ok looking at this picture I suddenly feel like the made-up side is very dirty. -_-

Nonetheless, final picture has full make up on...

Biore Cleansing Oil Cotton Sheets - if you have never tried makeup remover wipes before it's time to try, it'd change your life!!

If you are already using wipes, you can still give Biore's cotton sheets a try! The ultra moist formula ensures you remove your make up with less wiping - and that's less stressful on your skin. :D

Available in all leading supermarkets, hypermarkets and pharmacies.

Are you a shooting star?

Advertorial

Woohoo! Had great fun a few Saturdays ago... Was invited to be a guest judge for Laurier's "Are You a Shooting Star" Challenge, together with Jessica and Zoe!

Arrived at Cineleisure at 1030am... It was a nice day, bright and sunny!

The tentage

And check out all the participants obediently queuing up! Gotta love their spirit, waking up so early for a challenge.

These name-tags are for the 60 lucky selected teams.

What are the boxes for? You'd soon find out. :)

Zoe and I camwhoring after changing into our Laurier tank tops :D

And that's how we look like from the back!! Loving the daisy dukes... HOT!

Jess and I camwhoring with our team - no. 61. Technically since we were judges we were not included in the competition but it's still fun to do the challenges!

Every girl there was given a goodie bag:

And check out what's inside!

Poncho, water, facial blotters, wet wipes, UV protection and a fan! So thoughtful

The best present was a freaking polaroid camera!! Everyone loves those. I got a blue one. :( I heard there were girls who got pink ones!

The girls waiting for their clues!

Why all so young and chio!! Being girls we (Zoe, Jess and I) had a fun time observing what people were wearing. One of the teams came in sporty FBT shorts and serious running shoes! Complete with sporty sunglasses, toned arms, a perfect tan and smart hair cuts etc. I was saying they confirm gonna win and they were indeed one of the top! LOL

Camwhoring again. Side note: Love my Shibuya boots

AND IT'S TIME TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOT THE CLUES

Real simple: Guess the location, get there, snap a photo with the given polaroid camera, and be FAST AND ACCURATE Amazing Race style!

Since we were not going to be able to win, I said "Guys I wanna go 7/11 to buy candy first can?". When I was queuing, I had an epiphany and asked the people behind me "Hey do any of you have dimples???" (Clue 8)

Surprisingly enough some guy did and he allowed us to snap a picture!!

Encouraging start lol.

Btw I freaking love Clue 8. All the boys with double dimples look sooooo cute in the final pictures!

Gotta say I was really impressed with Zoe... She knew where everything was!! She pulled us to F21 for clue 7: Photo of team-mate in leopard print. To think I almost wore a leopard print skirt that day!

But then I'd never turn down any reason to go into F21 lah...

And that's that. Jess went into the fitting room to sneakily snap a pic but the polaroid's flash accidentally turned on and was reflected in the mirror so the whole photo turned out BLACK! LOL Lucky we are not really contestants!

Next task was to go to NTUC Finest to snap a pic with... Joanne Peh. By that I mean a angelic life-size cardboard stand up of her. She hiding in the back of the store, very sneaky!

Stopped by Ben and Jerry's to snap a pic with Woody the Cow. Till today I don't know what that is. Which cow? So we just snapped with any cow there...

Next challenge - having found a make up store kind enough to loan us BLACK LIPSTICK, we had to pick a team-mate to do it!!

So we did Orh peh som and Jess lost!! Check out her classic face LOL!!

But being nice friends we decided to all put together. :D

Zoe braving it

Hey we look not bad leh!!

It was 1pm by the time we were done with these tasks and we decided to forgo the rest and just EAT!!

Check out the cute polaroids we took:

Our Mr Dimples

Woody the cow??

Camwhoring shots!!

And that's it, we head back to the tent... It's time to judge!!

Most of the participants were already back! I LOVED how the tent looks so nice with all the interesting polaroids everyone took. Some of the girls even took the effort to use markers to decorate their photos. Too bad no extra points for that!!

This is the before - it was just bits of double sided tape!

Us girls gave scores based on accuracy and speed... The winners:

Team 42!

Also the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything. A coincidence? I don't think so.

All the contestants! :D It was a fun day of bonding.

Contest proudly organized by Laurier Super Slimguard

This right here is my favourite napkin in the world. I swear even before writing this advert I always use this every single time I get my period. Sometimes when it's sold out in the supermarkets I'd be mad pissed off so when I do see them I always buy a lot haha.

At 1mm thin, it is the thinniest napkin in the market and yet it is 200x ultra absorbent!

The reason why I love the day use napkins is coz it is BARELY there (no wings and completely fuss free), yet has never ever failed me (ie the dreaded "S" word that ends with "tain").

If girls tell me they don't use pads as they are chunky, I know they are just not using the right superslim ones. Nothing can make you feel more secure than an ultra absorbent napkin which also gives you the freedom to do whatever you want in the clothes you wanna wear. :)
